A Mystery Awakens

Yeah, yeah, yeah, ok...I know you're supposed to do these session reports closer to the event but it was Christmas so I prioritized...

Prologue: You will get two session reports because two sessions and the events in the session happened within a few days of each other.  The first sesh only took 2 game days so of course using 1:1 time the characters were free only a couple days later, and the players had time, and so we played again before people got busy with celebrating Our Lord's Nativity.

Session A:

Characters present: Oculta (lvl 1 Occultist), Jeremiah Tasso(lvl  Loremaster), Gary Schaffer (lvl 1 Geckoman trapper - at this point, astute readers are saying "didn't he die?! No. That was Marty Schaffer.  THe player likes the Geckoman Trapper and he likes them being named Schaffer...so it is now official lore that there is a clan of Geckomen named Schaffer.), and Fred (lvl 1 Gladigator with brain damage -10% to XP earned)

The party rolled out looking for information on rumors that people were going missing out on the highways.  No one in Kissimmee knew anyone who personally who had gone missing but the rumor mill always knew of a "friend of a friend".  One lead took the party the couple hours walk to the town of Celebration where they did some more rumor mongering in a local pub/restaurant called "TGI Applepeppers"...they heard from the waitress that there were indeed rumors of people going missing north of the town, around the forest. The forest was so close to town that it was affecting traffic in town.

Of course our adventurers took this as an indicator that this was the direction they needed to go. Once in the woods they discovered themselves a bit lost and soon needed a way OUT.  It was late in the day though so they set up camp in an old concrete ruin.  In the ruin they unearthed a battered green metal sign...what they could make out from underneath the rust was an arrow pointing in some direction (the original direction couldnt be known) but the words spelled out "isney Worl".  Perhaps this Isney Worl was a clue! Who knows!

In the middle of the night, Jeremiah heard a moaning noise that stopped abruptly.  He listened and there was no more.  So he waited until morning and they investigated.  Oculta sent over her raccoon spirit animal or whatever to investigate.  Bodies. From the tracks, Gary Schaffer was able to track them several miles to very large clearing.

The road to some magical kingdom...or something

Here there was a lake and on the other side of the lake, a large mound, like a mountain, covered in foliage with some spires sticking out...a buried city! Isney Worl perhaps?  They pressed on until they got to the gatehouse.  In the gate house they were confronted by 4 kobolds who wanted a toll for "The Lady Below"...Oculta ran up and tried stabbing a kobold instead.  A fight ensued and the party barely won.  Oculta lost a hand for her efforts.  They decided to limp home with only a few scrounged weapons.

On the way home they tried to get some help at the farms north of town...and who should they run into but our old friend Courtniiiii...long story short, Courtney agreed to help them out by hiring them for some jobs and that she'd send for them.  This ended Session A...

Epilogue: 2 things - The first is that their interaction at the end was a bit contrived by me...No, this helpful NPC wasn't magically there...in fact, as I've said before, I like to do my own solo wargaming as well, so when the players knock over a domino, I like to keep letting them fall between sessions.  So Courtniiiii was already here.  What was contrived was that it was her farm they walked up on.  The players have been struggling to get ahead on anything without dying...possibly their own fault but I'm not gonna have anyone rage quit just because they've never seen #brosr rules before.

2nd thing: (I haven't given my players the link to these reports so I can share stuff with the #brosr for better gaming) some of you might recognize "The Lady Below" from ACKS Sinister Stone supplement.  I think its a great supplement because its so modular.  I can really do whatever I want with it and it doesn't rely on the PC's breaking into some nobody's house to find an obscure note in a floor tile that will, 10 sessions later, allow them to - if they play their cards right - discover there's hidden temple.

On that note it fortuitously basically maps directly onto D1sn3y's Mag1c K1ngd0m.  I used the tourist map of MK (hmmm) and it works great with the one in the supplement, I just expand the distance.  It is also very easy to adjust encounters in the dungeon on the fly to fit my Florida theme.  We'll see that next time...
